Convert your Webflow Images to Improve Site Performance

AVIF images are now supported in Webflow!

This is a huge step forward for improving site performance and search ranking.

AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) is a modern, more compact image format that lets you serve high-quality images in a smaller size than traditional JPEG and WebP formats. This allows you to speed up your page load times and improve your SEO.

Here's how you do it:

How to convert existing assets in the Assets panel

  1. Open Assets panel
  2. Click the “Expand Assets panel” icon
  3. Select the asset(s) you want to convert
  4. Choose a file format (i.e., AVIF or WebP)
  5. Click Compress

How to convert existing assets in CMS Collections

You can compress ALL assets in your CMS collection in one go. For example, this would compress all images contained within your blog posts

  1. Open the Collections panel
  2. Click the 3 dots “options” icon
  3. Click Compress assets
  4. Choose a file format (i.e., AVIF or WebP) (AVIF is recommended for most assets)
  5. Click Compress

If you encounter any problems, it may be that your images are already compressed as much as possible.
